Silencing the inner chatter

The left brain’s chatter is endless if we allow it to run in automatic mode. It is not as intimidating once we start observing it and finally it does surrender. Yet, there are times when it just wants to take over and enforce its perception on us. Those are the times when it must be silenced, even for a short while because to blindly follow it, would separate us from who we really are.

Right here, right now, is where we are without our thoughts. To come back to the present to refocus on what is real, you can use a simple, straight-forward technique right where you are this moment:

Become aware of your breathing, without attempting to change it.
Become aware of your heartbeat.
Become aware of your feet, right where you are sitting.
Become aware of your hands.
Your back,
Your shoulders.
Relax any part of your body that feels tense.
Become aware of your head, the hair on your scull.
Close your eyes, open them again after a few seconds.
Remain.
Return.
Hear the silence inside.
Close the eyes, shut out the world.
Observe the breath.
Silence the mind, no thoughts.
Just breathe, feel your heartbeat, feel your body. Which parts hurt or feel uncomfortable? Is there any pain?
Send messages of love and light and acceptance to those areas.
Trust.
Whatever needs to be done, you’ll do it.
Whatever needs to be solved, you’ll find the solution.
Whatever needs to be seen, you’ll see it.
“I am open to receive the messages that are presented to me.”
“No thoughts now. This is my time.”
“I am not my thoughts.”
“I am beyond thought.”
“I AM”.
Peacefulness, love, acceptance, trust.
“I am me and I am unique.”
“I like myself. I respect and appreciate myself.”
“I love my mistakes, my failures, my efforts, my short-comings. They show me.”
Breathe.
“I am life.”
“I am warmth.”
“I am united, one and at peace with my self.”
“I can create; destruction is a part of creation.”
“I am patient and understanding and eager to learn.”
“I can be a child again.”
“I am kind to myself.”
“I answer all my needs.”
“I am ONE”.

No special training is needed to re-center ourselves, to find that place inside of us where we can always return to, find comfort in and unite with our true self. Change the wording if you like, allow your own self to guide you. But do claim your mind and your inner harmony.
